Help!

Kids grow out of clothes so fast. So here's my question... What do you do with them? How do you organize them? Right now I have Kyle's clothes packed into his old Huggies Costco size boxes. I used to label them by months but now I just throw them in and tape it up when it gets full because I'm lazy. haha. Let me hear your ideas!

  1. It is a little costly but we just get rubber maid containers and then label the months. Not much of a difference from your huggie idea but at least you can organize it a little more.

  2. I just use those long flat plastic boxes that fit under the bed/crib or can stack in the closet. I group them in sizes too, like 0-3, 3-6 m. 9-12 m. etc etc. Occasionally, i'll go through the boxes and make sure I want the things I have in there. LIke I hung onto a lot of clothes after Emma that Kate never wore so I knew I really didn't need them!
But it sounds like you are doing a good job! I used the huggies boxes at first until I couldn't stand them all over and them falling apart so I graduated to plastic :)

  3. I have this same problem. Plus, the different brands don't fit the same...so some he wore earlier or later than they were labeled.

  4. It is funny to me how consuming such a little problem can be. I am an organization freak! After trial and error, what has worked best for me is using theose clear plastic tubs. As Ann Marie mentioned although there are clothes that are labeled the same size but truely are not ... I, for the most part group them by their label, however when there is an occasional thing that is not true to the label I group by fit. Once I have filled up a container, I then write on an index card everything that I put in the box. No I do not list each article, but like 0-3 mth onesies, 0-3 mth pjs, and so forth. I know it sounds like alot of work, I just like the feeling of being able to find something quickly if I need to, as well as when the next boy comes, I hope all this organization will make getting ready for his arrival and transitions of sizes a bit smoother.

  5. I agree with everything said. But if you are totally busting at the seams (pun intended) with clothes, go thru them and decide what you want to keep and what you can donate, keep or re-purpose. For example, if it's too stained, but has a cute logo or whatever on it, I would cut the logo out and save it as a memento for him, then just throw the rest away or use it as cleaning rags. If you are not attached to it, donate or sale at those Kid to Kid stores. That way you can put in plastic bins and know you will use it for your next kid.

  6. I would say to keep in mind that anything you don't keep and plan to donate, keep in mind that the Machado's have a thrift store that they're trying to run and they will gladly take your "giveaways". So you get it off your hands quick, it's not being wasted, and it can help a great family in our ward! (They'll even come by to pick anything up)
